He believes that "thinking locally and acting globally" is the best method to influence culture through the local church. Tony and his wife Lawana reside in Louisiana. They have five children and three grandchildren.

In addition to being a fervent advocate for road safety, Tony Mac was an extremely family-oriented man who always had time for his family members. He was a faithful husband, father and brother who was there for you whenever you needed him. He was also a wonderful friend who would make you laugh on your worst days. He is survived by his daughter Holly Ranee Hunter, son Travis Lynn Hunter as well as his mother Lynda Phelps Hunter. Also, he leaves behind sisters Ronahkaye Shrum, a.k.a. Mopsy and his nephews Zackary Hunter and Adrian Hunter.
